Neil Gourley - British 1500m champion and headed to the World Championships


For those that don't know him, Neil is a 2018 VT grad (mechanical engineering) from Scotland. He was the anchor on VT's indoor distance medley relay team that won the NCAA indoor title a few years ago. He also won several ACC titles.

Neil won the British championship in the 1500 this weekend and he punched his ticket to the World Championships next month in Doha. There are some excellent British 1500m guys including Josh Kerr (NCAA record holder at 3:35, and PR of 3:33), Charlie Grice (PR of 3:30 which is about a 3:47 mile), and Jake Wightman (PR of 3:33). Neil outkicked all of them with a last 400 of ~51.x.
